You may drop in at the Senior Center on Riverside Road in Sandy Hook weekdays between 10 am and 4 pm. A hot meal is served at noon for which you must reserve three days in advance.
Newtown has daily door-to-door mini-bus service Monday through Friday. Monday from 1 to 3 pm the mini-bus will go to Sand Hill Plaza. Fridays, the bus will alternate going to Danbury Fair Mall and to Berkshire Shopping Plaza. Cost is 60 cents each way for the Sand Hill Plaza trip, 75 cents each way for out of town. Call 748-2511 TWO DAYS IN ADVANCE to book a ride and get the out-of-town Friday schedule.

There is a NEW DAY & TIME for the BOOK DISCUSSION GROUP. We now meet on the first Wednesay of the month, from 3 to 4 pm. The next meeting will be Febraury 2, and we are discussion The Poisonwood Bible.
THE OSTEOPOROSIS SCREENING scheduled for February 17 is full. We are accepting names for a waiting list for a possible additional screening. Please call 270-4310 to sign up.
Come on down and join us at BROOKFIELD LANES each Tuesday and Thursday for a great time bowling. We meet at noon and the cost is only $1.25 per game.
We have started a NEW QUILTING CLASS that meets every Friday at 10 am. We are in full swing. The name of the quilt is âSunrise to Sunset.â These quilts are individually made.

NEW HORIZONS meets the first Tuesday of the month. The next meeting is February 1.
Beginning Monday, February 7, and continuing through Monday, March 27, AARP income tax representatives will be at the center to assist with income tax preparation. The service is being offered by appointment only on Mondays only between 9 am and noon. You must bring last yearâs tax return and any other pertinent information for this year. Please call 270-4310 for an appointment.
Over the next few months, the center will be assembling a Millennium Booklet. If you would care to share any reflections, thoughts or memories about your life or your time in our town, we would love to include them. Please mail them or drop them off here at the center.

We will depart from the senior center at 8 am on Monday, February 14. Enjoy lunch and entertainment at The Bull Run Restaurant in Shirley, Mass. This restaurant prides itself on maintaining and enhancing its ambience as a pre-Revolutionary tavern. The owner is a graduate of the prestigious Culinary Institute of America. Your choice of menu today is Baked Fleur de Lis Ham, Stuffed Filet of Sole, or Roast Native Tom Turkey.
After our delicious meal, we will enjoy a wonderful show, Celebrate Valentineâs Day with the Songs of Patsy Cline, a tribute to Patsy Cline by Sandy Martin. Sandy has opened for numerous country music superstars and also starred in the critically acclaimed A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline, which ran in Boston in 1993. You are sure to enjoy this special Valentineâs performance. Cost for this trip is $51.

Thursday: Sliced steak w/ mushroom gravy, sliced roasted potatoes, butternut squash, pineapple juice, whole wheat bread, birthday cake and ice cream;
Friday: Tomato soup w/ unsalted crackers, toasted cheese sandwich, garden salad w/ Italian dressing, tapioca pudding w/ topping.
