The Newtown-New Fairfield (NNF) hockey team took on the Joel Barlow-Weston-Abbott Tech (JBWA) Falcons at Danbury Ice Arena and fell 8-1 on January 10. Although there were some encouraging moments at times, the overall result was cemented early when JBWA took a 4-0 lead to the locker room at the first intermission. The lone NNF goal was scored by senior alternate captain Quinn Harris from in front with a high riser over the outstretched blocker of the JBWA goaltender. Harris was set up on the play with some nifty corner work from Jackson Molison and Jordan Balla who recorded the assists on the goal.

At the other end of the ice senior goaltender Kaylee Awrachow was kept busy throughout desperately trying to keep it close and give her team an opportunity. She turned back several breakaways and made a number of quality saves, but it wasn’t enough as the offense stalled on the opposite side of the red line. Awrachow recorded 16 saves.
