EGYPTOLOGIST YEKATERINA BARBASH APPOINTED ASSISTANT CURATOR FOR EGYPTIAN ART AT THE BROOKLYN MUSEUM

BROOKLYN, N.Y. â Egyptologist Yekaterina Barbash has been appointed assistant curator of Egyptian art at the Brooklyn Museum. Dr Barbash will work with curators and Egyptologists Edward Bleiberg and Ann Russman in overseeing the museumâs world-renowned holdings of ancient Egyptian art.
A onetime intern in the Brooklyn Museumâs Department of Egyptian, Classical and Ancient Middle Eastern Art, Barbash received a PhD in ancient Egyptian history, art and philology from the Johns Hopkins University where she also was awarded a masterâs degree. She is the recipient of a BA from New York University and has studied at the Netherlands Institute of Archeology and Arabic Studies in Cairo.
Barbash teaches at New York Universityâs School of Continuing and Professional Studies as well as at Berkeley College. She has been a member of the Johns Hopkins University expedition to the Mut Precinct in Karnak, Egypt, where the Brooklyn Museum also maintains an excavation; has been a consultant for H.P. Kraus; and was a researcher at the Walters Art Museum.
