WILTON HISTORICAL SOCIETY CHANGES SHOW DATE
#615867
WD
WILTON, CONN. â After 28 years as the âMarch Show,â the 38th annual Wilton Historical Society Antiques Show has been forced to move to April 2 and 3.
âDue to an unfortunate mix-up by Wilton High School, we have been required to move our show to the beginning of April,â explained Marilyn Gould, show manager and museum director. âI am extremely sorry that this puts us up against the Bedford show and back-to-back with the Philadelphia shows, but it will be for this year only. While I donât believe that the change will affect our audience, I am sorry to make it more difficult for our dealers to do multiple shows.â
The manager noted wryly that there are a few probable upsides to this unexpected situation. In prior years, the March show has experienced several weather problems. Many will remember the âBlizzard of â93,â when 28 inches of snow on March 13 closed the show on Saturday, although it reopened on Sunday.
For the past few years, the mid-March date also coincided with spring vacation breaks for many Connecticut and New York towns, drawing many would-be customers to vacation sites. In April, it is expected that the weather will be more stable and antiques buyers will head to the Wilton Show instead of the ski slopes.
The Wilton High School is on Route 7. For information, www.WiltonHistorical.org or 203-762-7257.
