Carl Gonzales, Jr

Carl Gonzales, Jr, 83, of 107 Simeon Road, Bethel, died January 16 at Danbury Hospital.

He was the brother of Caroline Barrett of Newtown.

Born in Great Barrington, Mass. on July 27, 1916, he was a son of the late Carl and Anna (Ward) Gonzales, Sr.

Mr Gonzales was a US Army World War II Veteran. After his discharge from the Army, he traveled the entire United States, including Alaska, working from state to state. He was affectionately known by his friends as “The Knight of the Road.”

Mr Gonzales was employed in the landscape and garden industry. He retired after numerous years of service.

He is survived by a brother, Edward Gonzales of Bethel; another sister, Jeanette Sivo of Brookfield; his longtime companion, Cybil Hanson; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury, January 18. Cremation took place at the convenience of the family. Interment was in the Veterans Section of the Bethel Cemetery.
