Family: Brian Garrity is my husband and I have three children: Ashleigh, Aidan and Kieran.

Do you have any pets? I have a cat, Fiona.

What is your occupation? I am the administrative assistant to the athletic director at Staples High School.

How long have you lived in Newtown? We have been in Newtown for 21 years.

What do you like to do in your free time? I volunteer for Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps and work various sporting events at Staples High School as well as watch my own children play their sports.

What is your favorite book? To Kill a Mockingbird.

What organizations are you part of in town? I am EMT for NVAC. I am VP of Hawks Nation, which is NHS booster club that is currently in the developmental stages and soon to be announced. I volunteer where I can for the various sports teams my sons play on.

Who or what has been the greatest influence on your life? My grandmother. She came over from Italy when she was a teen. She was a hard worker, never complained, and never sat. She was always doing something. Family meant everything to her. She instilled in me such great family values and traditions. She is no longer with us but I try my best to keep her memory and traditions alive.

If you could spend the day with one person, who would you choose and why? My mom. She passed away 12 years ago and I miss her so much. We used to talk on the phone all the time. I miss those days and all our conversations.

Who is your favorite musical artist? I am a music fanatic. I love all artists and various forms of music across all genres. It is very hard for me to pick just one so I will give you a few of my favorites: U2, Chicago, Neil Diamond, Frank Sinatra. I also love Motown, freestyle music, and old school hip hop.

What is the greatest piece of advice you have ever been given? Never forget where you came from. It is those roots that brought you to where you are today.

What is something you cannot live without? Coffee.

What is your proudest accomplishment? Having my three children.

What is your favorite travel destination? Myrtle Beach.

What is the best part about Newtown? Our town is so big but yet small. I can always count on running into someone I know when I am out and about.
