Irving E. Trager
Irving Edward Trager, age 61, of Sandy Hook, Conn., passed away on January 2, 2020, at Danbury Hospital. Irving was born in New York City and lived in Sandy Hook for over 20 years. He was the beloved husband of Andrea (Baldwin) Trager and the devoted father of Jordan B. Trager.
He is survived by his mother-in-law, Claire Barbiero of North Haven; his Uncle Albert and Aunt Linda Mignone of Middletown; as well as several cousins. He was the son of the late Fred and Jeanne Trager.
Irving was a graduate of Stuyvesant High School where he was inducted into the All-American Prep Football honor roll 1975-76. He received his BA in Political Science from NYU in 1981 and his JD from Quinnipiac University in 1985.
Attorney Trager was associated with Shearson Lehman Bros., Advest, Inc, and recently Morgan Stanley, as vice president of Corporate and Institutional Solutions. He was with the firm for 15 years.
Irving grew up in Peter Cooper Stuyvesant Town Village in New York City. He was involved in all sports as a young boy through high school. To his friends, he was known as a legend on the football and baseball field, basketball court, and hockey rink.
He loved the home he shared with his beloved wife and son. He enjoyed gardening, tennis, fishing, and playing basketball in the driveway with his son, as well as relaxing at Jennings Beach in Fairfield during the summer months. He was a consummate chef and enjoyed preparing many meals for his extended family during holidays and with his gourmet group of friends. His wisdom, wonderful sense of humor, and sparkling blue eyes will be missed by his family and friends.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, January 9, at 10 am, from The Abraham L. Green and Son Funeral Home, 88 Beach Road in Fairfield, with interment following at Oaklawn Cemetery on Bronson Road in Fairfield.
