Two Garner Inmates Arrested

State police report they arrested two inmates at the high-security Garner Correctional Institution last week in separate cases.
On January 9 at about 10:30 am, state police responded to Garner at 50 Nunnawauk Road to investigate a report of an inmate assaulting a correction officer.
State police said inmate Jeffrey T. Connor, 42, of New Britain punched a female correction officer in the face as the officer was attempting to remove Connor from his prison cell. The officer was injured by the assault, state police said.
Connor was arrested on a charge of assault on a correction officer. Connor was scheduled for arraignment on the charge January 12 in Danbury Superior Court.
Connor is serving a 13-year sentence in Garner on a controlling criminal charge of first-degree kidnapping. He was sentenced in July 2006.
On the afternoon of January 9, state police served an arrest warrant against Garner inmate Brian J. Coughlam, 23, of Yonkers, N.Y. Coughlam was charged with being a fugitive from justice. He was scheduled for a January 12 court arraignment.
Coughlam is serving a one-year sentence in Garner on a controlling charge of criminal conspiracy. He was sentenced in October 2008. Â
