Varied Program Being Prepared By Youth Orchestra
RIDGEFIELD â The Ridgefield Symphony Youth Orchestra will present its first concert of new year on Sunday, January 25. The concert, which will begin at 4 pm, will be performed in the auditorium of Veteranâs Park Elementary School, at 8 Governors Street.
Young musicians from Ridgefield, Danbury, Bethel, Danbury, Newtown, Redding and West Redding will perform a varied program of orchestral works by Beethoven (Seventh Symphony, second movement), Haydn (Symphony 104, first movement), Ives (The Unanswered Question), and Copland (Appalachian Spring suite).
The Youth Orchestraâs string quartet and wind ensemble will also perform.
The orchestra made its debut last May. Critic Courtenay Caublé said, âNo other musical event in Ridgefieldâs musical season has earned louder bravos or more enthusiastic standing ovations than last Sunday afternoonâs debut concert by the Ridgefield Symphony Youth Orchestra.â
Under the direction of the Ridgefield Symphony Orchestraâs assistant conductor, Ankush Kumar Bahl, RSYO boasts a membership of 46 auditioned musicians between grades six and twelve. The group rehearses weekly. Sectional rehearsals are led by principal members of Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra, the Youth Orchestraâs parent organization.
