The Day The Dogs Got Out
The Day The Dogs Got Out
To the Editor:
On Monday January 5, our family was having a regular day. Shadow, one of our dogs, signaled to us that he and his pal, our other dog named Cosmo, had to go outside. It was around 2:45, so we let them out. I went out around 3:55 to get the dogs. When I got out there, I discovered the gate to our back yard open, and the dogs gone. I ran inside and got my brother and we began our search of the neighborhood. My brother ran to the Thompson house across the street for help from Stacey Thompson. She pulled her car out of the driveway and she and my brother began to search Twist Hill Road. I ran to Curry Drive to begin searching. Unsuccessful, I returned home. I told my mom our predicament and we drove around town to look for the dogs. We couldnât find them and decided to continue the search on foot.
With our boots on and armed with flashlights, we continued to search. My brother went into the woods in our backyard, and I ventured with my mother to Blakeslee Road. While we were looking, a kind woman gave us some dog treats to help us find the dogs. Her husband drove around in his car to help us look. As we continued the search we asked some people if they had seen the two black labs. We asked many nice people on Currituck Road, Hall Lane, Curry Drive, and on other roads around the neighborhood if they had seen the dogs. Their helpful and kind words kept us optimistic. Then on that cold, rainy night we came up empty. After a sleepless night, our mother called the pound early the next morning and asked if the two dogs had been found. Luckily, the dog warden found them and kept them overnight. We were so happy they had been found! So what we want to say is âthank youâ to all the people on Blakeslee Road, Curry Drive, Hall Lane, Currituck Road, and every one who had helped, especially the dog warden.
