Babe Ruth Softball Signups

Registration for the Newtown Babe Ruth Softball League will be held Saturday, January 31 (9 am to 3 pm); Tuesday, February (6 to 9 pm); and Saturday, February 7 (9 am to 3 pm) in the Newtown Middle School cafeteria.

 

Babe Ruth Baseball Signups

Registration for spring baseball will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, January 27 and 28, from 7 to 9 pm and the following Saturdays, January 31 and February 7, from 9 am to 1 pm. Registration will be held at the Edmond Town Hall in the Lower Meeting Room. Registration is open to all players ages 6 through 19. A player’s age is determined as of July 31, 2004. The fee for players 6-12 is $80 and for players 13-19 it is $90. The registration form is available as a PDF download from the Babe Ruth League web site at www.eteamz.com/newtownbaseball/. Sunday Slo-Pitch

The Newtown Men’s Sunday Slo-Pitch Softball League is looking for new teams and new players for the 2004 season - which starts in just a few months. Anyone interested can call Tom Egan at 426-5136.

Free Indoor Soccer Clinics

The Newtown Soccer Club is offering free indoor winter skills training clinics to registered players in ‘E’ and ‘F’ divisions. Brian Neumeyer, Newtown High School boys soccer coach and Newtown Soccer Club Coaching/Training Director, will oversee the clinics. He will be assisted by members of the high school soccer teams. Players must wear indoor shoes or sneakers as well as shin guards. Players must also bring a soccer ball and water bottle. No cleats will be allowed to be worn in the gym. All training will be held in the gym at Hawley School from 4 to 5 pm on the following Mondays – Session #1: Girls will meet on January 26, February 2, 9 and 23; Session #2: Boys will meet on March 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29. Any scheduling changes will be noted on the web at www.newtownsoccerclub.org.

Soccer Development Program

AC Caldo, an advanced soccer development and training program in Northwestern Connecticut, is seeking U17 boys for its spring 2004 premier qualifying team sponsored by The Middlebury Soccer Association. The team will be coached by Joe Mancini of Soccer Extreme, the boys’ varsity coach at Pomperaug High School in Southbury. Cost for winter and spring training, spring league, uniform and tournament play will be $469. Open evaluations will be Sundays from 7 to 9 pm at Chase Park gym in Waterbury.
