Audubon Society Program

On Grassland Birds

SOUTHBURY — Lillinonah Audubon Society chapter of National Audubon Society will feature a program called “Grassland Birds: How Changing Land Use Is Affecting Them” during its next general meeting, Thursday, January 22. The meeting will take place at the meeting house of South Britain Congregational Church, on the corner of Route 172 and East Flat Hill Road.

The speaker will be Patrick Comins, who is Audubon Connecticut’s director of bird conservation. He will give a talk and slide show. The program is open to the public, free of charge.

Mr Cumins is the principal author of Protecting Connecticut’s Grassland Heritage, a report of the Connecticut’s Grasslands Working Group.

A graduate of Trinity College, he is a lifelong student of bird life and behavior. In addition to the Connecticut Audubon Society, he has worked for the US Fish and Wildlife Service, is on the board of directors of The Connecticut Ornithological Association, and a former director of Hartford Audubon Society.

Social time will begin at 7:30 pm, with the program to begin at 8. For additional information call Mary K. Harmon, 264-4124.
