The Newtown Choral Society, under the direction of Mary Andreotta and accompanied by Susan Anthony-Klein, begins rehearsals Wednesday, January 23, for its spring concert and is inviting prospective members to attend. There are openings in all voices. Rehearsals are Wednesdays at Newtown Middle School, 7 pm. The concert is set for May 18 at The Meeting House.

For more information on membership, contact the group’s president, Laura E. Lerman, at 203-426-3769 or e-mail lel@se-ltd.com.

“We are pleased to be presenting the ‘top hits’ from the 1600s through current music, including folk music and music from current Broadway productions,” Director Mary Andreotta said. “We do not require an audition and welcome everyone who loves singing and has a desire to learn,” Ms Andreotta added.

The concert will also include selections from The Pirates of Penzance by Gilbert and Sullivan and opera choruses.

Now entering its 32nd year, the Newtown Choral Society is a community chorus and welcomes singers from all area towns. The choir performs two concerts a year and welcomes both novice and experienced singers. The choir is supported through dues, ticket sales, and program ads.
