Adaptive Snow Ski Event At Mount Southington
PLANTSVILLE — LOF Adaptive Skiers will host a day of skiing for veterans at Mount Southington, 396 Mount Vernon Road, Plantsville, Thursday, January 17, 10:30 am to 3 pm.
The LOF winter program is led by head instructor and Vietnam veteran Jerry Miserandino. In addition to the veterans that will participating in the program, many former servicemembers contribute time to the program as volunteer instructors.
LOF Adaptive Skiers and volunteers focus on inclusion, opportunity, and experiences by providing adaptive ski and veteran events that promote physical and emotional empowerment, fun, exposure to new experiences, positive recreational experiences, new friendships and supports, and improved athletic abilities.
For the last 27 years, LOF, established in 1992 by Joel Zeisler, a former national champion water ski jumper and USMC veteran, has been serving adults, children, and veterans along the east coast. Through transformative experiences, LOF Adaptive Skiers and its volunteers have continued to carry out the original mission: empowering individuals through adaptive skiing. LOF Adaptive Skiers is recognized nationally and internationally as a leader in adaptive waterskiing.
