Occupation: I started out in wardrobe styling and makeup for commercials, and I still do some of that. But I’m now a yoga instructor and energy healer. My business is www.InspiredSoul.net, and I offer yoga classes and energy healing at my Tory Lane home studio, here in Newtown. I also offer workshops in clearing energy field, detoxing the body and mind, and facilitate journey dance, a healing movement. I work at Silver Hill Hospital in New Canaan, as well, providing mind and body healing.

Family: I’ve been married to Phil for 26 years. We have three kids. Haley is 25, Madeline is 22, and Tiernan is 16.

Pets: We have Piggy, our Jack Russell terrier, that is about 7 years old. Finton is our beautiful black tuxedo kitty.

How long have you lived in Newtown? We’ve been here for 21 years, since 1995.

What do you like to do in your free time? My free time is all about educating myself more about yoga, dance, and philosophy. I am making a commitment to get back to doing more fine art, though. I’m planning an art/energy workshop for February. I read, and I’m always into discovering new music, for my playlists. We do a lot of hiking, too.

What have you read recently? I read a lot of philosophy and energy healing, but one of my favorites recently is The Signature of All Things by Elizabeth Gilbert. I loved that book. It’s so well crafted.

Do you have a favorite travel destination? Australia. I’m planning to do yoga and energy workshops there in 2017, and travel through the country. We went in 2011, and I just loved it.

What is the best thing about Newtown? I would say the nature, hiking, and that Newtown has kept its quaintness all of these years. I do like some of the expansion going on — the restaurants, the children’s museum, the Victory Garden, and that sort of thing. But I like that we are keeping the quaintness.

Who has been the greatest influence in your life? It’s Phil, my husband. From the start, he has encouraged me to be creative, and to trust my creativity as being holy. He has helped me learn to trust that inner spark, and the things that bring you more joy than intellectual things.

If you could spend a day with anyone, who would you choose? Gabrielle Roth. She was a dancer who was about being in your body. She died a few years ago, and I’m really sorry I never got to take a class with her.

Do you have a guilty pleasure? Eating a giant bowl of popcorn and bingeing on a television series.
