Chamber, Ameriprise Team Up For Lunch And Learn

Jean Leonard and her team at Ameriprise Financial will be partnering with the Newtown Chamber of Commerce hosting a Lunch and Learn workshop about Social Security on Wednesday, January 20 from noon to 1:30 pm at the Villa Restaurant, 4 Riverside Drive in Sandy Hook.

During this workshop, speaker Maria Grice of the Social Security Administration with answer questions about Social Security and will discuss interesting facts including:

*The earliest age to qualify to receive Social Security benefits

*How retirement benefits for a spouse are calculated

*Eligibility for full retirement benefits

*The choices on when to start receiving benefits

*How benefits are affected when a spouse dies

*Whether income earned may reduce Social Security benefits

*The possibility that some Social Security benefits may be subject to income tax

*How to read your annual Social Security Statement (be sure to bring yours along)

Open to chamber members and future members, this workshop is an opportunity for attendees to have their Social Security questions answered directly from an expert.
