A Heartwarming Success

To the Editor:

The Newtown Junior Women’s Club would like to thank the community for their generosity, which again made our annual Tag-A-Gift program a heartwarming success.  “Wishes” were provided to us by The Newtown Fund and Social Services.  Tags were created and hung with a handmade ornament on a tree/wreath at several locations for the public to take and purchase the gift.

Over 100 donated gifts were delivered back to our tag locations: Edmond Town Hall, Newtown Savings Bank, Wesley Learning Center, Union Savings Bank and Savings Bank of Danbury.  Newtown Junior Women’s Club wants each of the locations to know how very grateful we are for their support! And we extend a huge thank you to every resident who took the time to choose a tag, buy gifts and return them for this project.   With additional purchases funded by The Newtown Fund, Newtown Junior Women’s Club dropped off over 150 wrapped gifts to The Newtown Fund’s “Depot Day” for 58 local kids (infant to age 18).

We would also like to thank Girl Scout troop 50293 and their leaders for creating the ornaments that went with each tag on a tree/wreath. It is a privilege to be part of this effort for our Club and for me as it truly represents a wonderful holiday spirit.
