‘The Great American Piano Revisited’

SOUTHBURY — Pianist Paul Bisaccia will open the Pomperaug Woods 2011 Concert Season on Sunday, January 16, at 3 pm.

With the success of his PBS television show Paul Bisaccia and The Great American Piano, Mr Bisaccia is celebrating with a new CD and new concert program, both called “The Great American Piano Revisited.”

The concert is like no other because it includes new unpublished never before heard Gershwin treasures as well as beloved favorites such as Sousa Marches and a new arrangement of “Battle Hymn of the Republic.” The program also includes ragtime by Eubie Blake, Scott Joplin and Irving Berlin, a new arrangement of Gershwin’s Ragtime and a crazy piano arrangement of “Flight of the Bumblebee.”

American Record Guide says “for Gershwin interpretations Bisaccia wins hands down,” while fellow performer and music revivalist Michael Feinstein has praised Mr Bisaccia for his “consummate musicianship.”

The public is invited, free of charge, however seating is limited so reservations are necessary. Pomperaug Woods is at 80 Heritage Road in Southbury.

Call 203-262-6555 extension 178 for reservations and additional information.
