Nighthawk Girls Fall At Weston
Newtown High Schoolâs girlsâ basketball team, playing its first game since a 57-33 win over New Milford on January 4, lost a nail-biter, 49-48 at Weston on January 10. It was a rematch of a December 20 meeting at Newtown High, won 59-44 by Weston, and a makeup game which was originally scheduled for January 7, but postponed by snow.
The Nighthawks had only been beaten by Weston and carried a 6-2 overall record into back-to-back home games this week, against Stratford and Masuk of Monroe.
Newtown, following a Friday, January 14 home game against Masuk at 7 pm, will visit Bunnell of Stratford on January 18 at 5:15 pm, marking first-year head coach Jeremy OâConnellâs first visit to his former teamâs gymnasium. OâConnell coached at Bunnell for the past 14 years, eight as head coach.
