James J. Kader, Sr, 86, longtime resident of Milford and beloved husband of Helen Moyher Kader, died January 11, at his home. Born on July 31, 1924, in Fairfield, he was the son of Louis and Elizabeth Szemuer Kader.
In addition to his wife of 62 years, he is survived by five children, including Janice Troll, and her husband Michael, of Sandy Hook; his nine cherished grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and an aunt. He was predeceased by a granddaughter and a sister.
Mr Kader served with great pride and honor in the US Army during World War II, in the 82nd Airborne, as a paratrooper who landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day, fought in the Battle of the Bulge, and was awarded three Purple Hearts for his service.
Prior to his retirement, he was a specialized mechanic for Industrial Trucks and also served as shop steward.
He was quite artistic and enjoyed painting and photography. He was an avid gardener and was affectionately known as a âJack of all Trades.â
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Saturday, January 15, at 10 am, at St Gabriel Roman Catholic Church, 26 Broadway, Milford. Interment following at St Mary Cemetery, Milford. Calling hours are scheduled for Friday, January 14, from 3 to 7 pm at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street on the Green, Milford.
