Fire Marshal Urges Snow/Ice Removal

Fire Marshal Bill Halstead is seeking assistance from residents and business people amid adverse wintertime conditions, when accumulations of snow and ice can complicate the work of firefighting volunteers.

In a statement issued this week, Mr Halstead asks that people shovel out and/or plow out the snow from nearby fire hydrants, dry hydrants, and the fire hose plumbing connections for the underground water storage tanks that supply water for firefighting.

Also, the fire marshal reminds businesses that second exits for businesses and stair exits must be cleared of snow and ice.
