Woman’s Club Collects Valentines For Vets

Members of the Public Affairs Committee of the Newtown Woman’s Club, GFWC, Inc, are once again collecting valentines for veterans.

Residents, young and old, are invited to make or buy cards, sign them, and drop them off in the red box located in the children’s department on the bottom floor of the C.H. Booth Library. The valentines will be delivered to veterans in the veterans’ hospitals in Rocky Hill and West Haven.

“We just want to let the veterans know that we appreciate them,” Marion Thompson explained. “All valentines are welcome but, please, no glitter. Glitter is a problem because it gets in the beds and on the bandages of the veterans.”

Valentines should be left in the box by Friday, February 4, after which they will be collected and transported to the hospitals.
