*Two weeks from new, a trio of bands will be performing at The Garage – Newtown’s teen center on Church Hill Road – in a concert where their proceeds will be used to help victims of the December 26 tsunamis in southeast Asia.

Kel Bowers is the musician behind this event. The Newtown resident is a member of the alt-rock band SALANUM, one of the bands that will be performing on January 28. Also scheduled to play that night are THERE GOES BILL and KAMIKAZE PILOTS, two ska bands.

Admission will be just $5, and the event will run from 7 to 11 pm.

Contact Kel at 270-3555 or KelDrumz@aol.com for additional information.

*Tickets are going on sale this weekend for GOV’T MULE, who will be returning to Connecticut on February 26. Tickets for their show at the Oakdale Theatre are all $25 and will be going on sale Saturday morning at 10. Visit the Oakdale’s box office or any TicketMaster vendor in person, or call TicketMaster to charge tickets.

*Also on sale Saturday at 10 are tickets for the first announced show this year at The Meadows. The Hartford amphitheater will be hosting a special indoor show on Friday, March 4, with SLIPKNOT headlining. Opening sets will be by LAMB OF GOD, SHADOWS FALL and GIZMACHI.

Tickets are $35, and there will be a limited number of General Admission Pit Tickets available. Be sure to specify it if you want those tickets.

The following night the headliners will be THE GEORGE BOONE BLUES BAND, and then on January 27 the headliner is D. SMITH SBLUES BAND. The band, formed in November 1989 (as The D.
