Garner Inmate Charged With Assaulting Officers

State police report they arrested a Garner Correctional Institution inmate on the evening of January 5, lodging charges including assault on a correction officer and breach of peace.

State police said that inmate Carl Gadson, 25, assaulted male correction officers Burritt and Gizzi, while Gadson was being escorted back to his prison cell.

The correction officers received minor injuries, state police said. Gadson was later arraigned on the charges in Danbury Superior Court.

Gadson is serving a one-year sentence in Garner on a second-degree assault conviction.

The high-security prison, which opened in November 1992, is located at 50 Nunnawauk Road.
