Construction Theft

Police report that sometime between 3:30 pm January 5, and 6:45 am January 7, someone stole an air compressor and various tools from a construction trailer parked at 6 Arlyn Ridge Road. Police are investigating and ask anyone with information on the theft to contact them at 270-8888.

Threatening

After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, a male under age 16  turned himself in at the police station on the morning of January 7, and was charged with second-degree threatening, police said.

Police said the arrest stems from a November 4 incident at Newtown High School, in which the accused boy allegedly made threatening remarks against another person.

Police released the unidentified boy into the custody of his parents for a January 24 appearance in Danbury Juvenile Court.

Hawleyville Accident

Motorist Kayla Mesko, 16, of 12 Surrey Trail, who was driving a 1993 Toyota Tercel about 4:20 pm January 6, drove to the end of westbound Interstate 84’s Exit 9 off-ramp and then stopped at a stop sign there, police said.

Mesko then attempted to turn left onto southbound Hawleyville Road, but collided with a 1993 Ford Taurus station wagon which was being driven northward on Hawleyville Road by motorist Robert Caprio, 43, of New Milford, police said.

The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported Mesko to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries, police said. Police issued Mesko a written warning for failure to grant the right of way at a stop sign.
