New Morningâs first Chocolate Dinner, held in February 2004 at Old Town Hall, netted sweet results. The evening was sold out, included a lecture on âthe true history of chocolateâ Mayan expert Michael Coe, PhD, a second talk about the health benefits of chocolate by Philip Cohen, and resulted in a donation of $1,677.50 for Bent of the River.
Guests feasted on an original and naturally delicious chocolate meal cooked up by Ms Byer Alcorace. The five-course buffet featured a varied spicy and sweet display of chocolate enhanced edibles, dark chocolate beet pops, cocoa black bean soup, and chicken mole, ending with chocolate dipped apricots, chocolate-chocolate scones and vegan chocolate truffles.
