Newtown High School’s Unified Theater program is set to perform an original show called “Forward to the Past” this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, January 14-15, in the high school’s auditorium, 12 Berkshire Road.

Saturday’s performance is set for 6 pm and Sunday’s performance is set for 2 pm. The show is donation-based in place of ticket prices.

For the Unified Theater program, students of all abilities and backgrounds work together to put on a production entirely organized, written, and directed by the students themselves.

Unified Theater teacher Janice Gabriel described the show as, "It is about a group of students in the future who are visiting a museum. Music is not allowed in the future so this group gets into a time machine and travels back in time to collect different types of music throughout time in order to try and save music. They venture through the stone age, the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and some parts of the 2000s. It is an adventure filled with fun music and some dancing.”

The school district originally announced the dates of the performance as January 7-8.
