On Sunday, January 18, Seth Barrett, a local Boy Scout from Troop 370, will be hosting an item drive for his Eagle Scout project.

The event will be held in the front horseshoe of Newtown Middle School, 11 Queen Street, from 10 am to 4 pm.

Seth is hoping to collect new items including as backpacks, T-shirts, socks, winter gloves, hats, scarves, toothbrushes, toothpaste, razors, hand wipes and combs/brushes to donate to Operation Hope of Fairfield. The organization has many programs that serve the homeless and those struggling financially. By collecting and filling backpacks with necessary items to survive, Seth hopes to help Operation Hope give these items to those who need them.

Seth is completing this project to achieve his Eagle Award, something he has been working toward since he joined the Boy Scouts in first grade. He is a senior at Newtown High School and has always had an interest in serving others.
