Robert âBobâ John Chamberlain, 96, of Newtown, beloved husband of Barbara Chamberlain for 43 years, died peacefully, January 6, surrounded by his family. He was born August 2, 1915, in New Washington, Ohio, to Louise and Frederick Dallas.Â
He is survived by his wife Barbara and his six children, Candace Callan, Cherie Swetts, Cindie Beauchamp, Lisa Bodwell, David Chamberlain, and Jennifer Singer. Mr Chamberlain also leaves behind eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brothers Wilbur Chamberlain and Francis Dallas and sister Helen Young.
Mr Chamberlain was a devoted family man who was passionate about life. As an avid gardener, he enjoyed sharing the fruits of his labor with friends and family. He was a talented banjo player and founding member of the Easton Banjo Society and the original Jackson Pike Skifflers, where he played the mandolin, harmonica, and five-string banjo.Â
He owned and ran Chamberlain Construction for more than 50 years, building custom homes in Fairfield County. At the age of 80, Mr Chamberlain redirected his creative talents and began building rustic furniture.
There will be a service in celebration of his life at 1 pm, Saturday, January 14, at Trinity Episcopal Church, 36 Main Street, Newtown, with a reception to follow in the church undercroft.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Trinity Church Memorial Garden, where Bob will be laid to rest.
