Girls 8th

Monroe 50, Newtown 34 – Sara Kelley netted 18 points but a strong Monroe team held the Hawkeyes in check. Kaitlin Marsden added six points while Meghan Bridges and Kristen Errico played well defensively.

Newtown 49, Ridgefield 18 – Kate Bowen dished off assists while Lyndsey Burns and Nicole Elias combined to rip down 17 rebounds as the Newtown offense exploded in the win. Jennifer Dailey and Sara Kelley combined for 25 points while Ally Modzelewski chipped in five.

Girls 7th

Brookfield 35, Newtown 32 – The Nighthawks closed a 12-point, fourth-quarter deficit to two but ran out of time in an exciting battle. Chelsea Gray and Maggie Donohue tossed in six points apiece.

Weston 20, Newtown 19 – Marilyn LaCroce made a clutch free throw with 10 seconds left to tie the game, but the Nighthawks lost in the final seconds. Colleen Cunningham grabbed 14 rebounds.

Newtown 34, Ridgefield-St. Mary’s 17 – KellyAnne Brophy scored 10 of her game-high 16 points in a four-minute span in the second quarter to break the game open. Alex Grant had six points and Colleen Cunningham added five. Cunningham and Taylor Benson had strong rebounding games. 

Girls 6th

St. Theresa’s 30, Newtown 22 – Taylor Steimle and Austin Bonadio canned seven points apiece, but Newtown fell to St. Theresa’s. Steimle was tough under the glass and Bonadio had a strong defensive game. Josh Barrett settled the offense with help from Dan Gallagher at the point position. Tough defensive plays by Eric Samuelson and WIll Fletcher brought the team within two by the last quarter, but it could not catch St Theresa’s.

Girls 5th

Wilton 33, Newtown 28 – The well-rested Hawks finally got back on the court after a long holiday hiatus, but couldn’t hold an early lead against a tough Wilton team. Dan Hebert led the way offensively with 11 points and Reid Schmidt had a good all-around game, contributing five points and two steals. Conner Quinn (5 rebounds, 2 steals) played well defensively along with Pieter Martino and Sam Ashey, who each contributed four rebounds and two steals. Wyatt Dupuy had a steal and hauled down three rebounds to round out the defensive effort.

Fairfield 31, Newtown 28 – The Hawks lost a tough overtime battle in the Reed School gym to the Fairfield PAL Celtics in a thrilling, well-played contest. Sean Elliott had a great overall game with four points, six rebounds, a steal and an assist. Jake Feinstein helped the Hawks race out to an early lead with two long distance jumpers in the first quarter, but the Celtics were able to claw their way back and force the overtime period. Gavin Scallon played a strong game, scoring six points and hauling down five rebounds and David Gerics played exceptional defense with three steals and three rebounds. Nick Gerbo played unselfish ball, dishing out two assists and playing hard on defense.

Junior Girls

Kids On The Court 40, Bulls 24 – Ali Pliszka scored 17 points and dragged down nine rebounds to lead the Kids to the win. Emma Kingsley dished off four assists and Sarah Ferris had four steals. For the Bulls, Carolyn Fagan scored 10 points and Kaley Krueger added six. Jenna Bonnacorso dished off three assists and Margaret Kearney grabbed four rebounds.

Pacers 53, Gaels 18 – Brittany Wiberg scored 13 points and pulled down 11 rebounds as the Pacers rolled. Ashley Kuligowski had 12 points and 10 assists while Katie Jackman, Taylor Johnson and Katie Pessin combined for 20 points.

Huskies 43, Knicks 20 – Kelly O’Connor scored 11 points while Audra Sarna, Scarlett O’Sullivan and Stephanie Suhoza chipped in with six points apiece to lift the Huskies to the win. For the Knicks, Christine Arnold had eight points while Deanna Tassinari dished off five assists, Jillian Thompson made three steals and Jessica Fossum grabbed six rebounds.

Huskies 28, Celtics 19 – Lisa Vendel canned eight points to lead the Huskies to the win. Victoria Picerna and Shannon Zamary played well. For the Celtics, Nicole Escoda and Emma Fiore popped in four points apiece, but Escoda also dragged down 11 rebounds and made five steals. Samantha Lockhart, Casey Router and Maggie Reznikoff played well.

Junior Boys

Hawkeyes 37, Eagles 26 – Tucker Schmidt popped in 14 points to lift the Hawkeyes past the Eagles. For the Eagles, Max Paynter had 15 points, Trevor Todd added seven, and Cody Fischer cleaned the glass for 10 rebounds. Michael George also played well.

Huskies 42, Jaspers 26 – Brandon Froderman scored 13 points while Chris Winters had six points and nine rebounds to lead the Huskies. Dylan Huebner played well. For the Jaspers, Adam Buccino scored nine points as Chris Caulfield had a solid floor game.

Saints 44, Knicks 28 – Rob Phillips had 13 points and Kevin O’Connell added nine to lead the Saints past the Knicks. For the Knicks, Dan White (11 points) and Eric Thornberg powered the offense while Will Northrup and Ken Gottschalk played well.

Deamon Deakins 41, Hawkeyes 34 – Nick Tarantino scored nine points, Sean Deveney had eight blocks and CJ Portolese had 12 rebounds to power the Deakins. For the Hawkeyes, Tucker Schmidt canned 13 points.

Red Devils 47, Wildcats 30 – Joe DiNicola, Nick Neves and Joe Fedak handled the bulk of the offensive duties while Tom Murphy pulled off eight steals and Eric McCabe grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the Devils. For the ‘Cats. Rockwell Anyoha had eight points as Brian Reed, Brad Biscoe (six assists) and Danny Clement (three steals) had strong floor games.

Bullets 34, Orangemen 32 – Ryan Daly had nine points as the Bullets clipped the Orangemen. Tyler Covert and Ryan Korth had strong performances. For the Orangemen, Jeff Braun canned a three-pointer, Greg Campbell helped support the offense and George Primavera played well.

Bantam Boys

Nighthawks 27, Celtics 13 – Matt Wood canned eight points to lead the Nighthawks to the win. Ty Runkle, Luca Imbimbo and Chase Wurtz played well. For the Celtics, Mike Davis had six points as Patrick Rawley, Brenton Scott and Justin Wiener had strong floor games.

Runnin’ Raiders 20, Cavaliers 11 – Drew Tarantino had 12 points to lead the Raiders. Matt Villamana and Josh Tuffy played well. For the Cavs, Jim Leidlein, Greg Ladestro, Austin Babyak and Joey Anatasi had good performances.

Knicks 24, Blue Devils 24 – Virgil Procacini canned seven points as the Knicks drew even with the Blue Devils. Otto Kerler and Steven Walsh played well. For the Devils, Nick Klein had two assists, Tre Dewald made three steals and Julian Dunn played well.

Yellowjackets 25, Huskies 17 – Troy Frangione scored 12 points and Matt Waite added nine more to lead the ‘Jackets to the win. Jeffrey Peterson and Shae DeMarche played well. For the Huskies, Matt Hoyt, Scott Kelly, Steven Anderau and Scott Kelley had good games.

Bantam Girls

Lady Vols 16, Lady Liberty 10 – Megan Foy scored four points and Abigail Kuligowski dragged down four rebounds to lead the Vols to the win. Kristie Vos Winkel and Callie Furphy played well. For the Liberty, Hope Morran and Emma Sullivan played well.

Lady Vols 11, Mighty Chicks 8 – Abigail Kuligowski, Daisy Young, Megan Morgan (four steals) and Callie Furphy led the Lady Vols to the win while Mary Joe Rossi (six points), Taylor Zingaro (three steals) and Morgan Macciarulo powered the Chicks.

Wildcats 28, Huskies 8 – Emily Pieretti and Jenny Indelicato scored four points apiece to lead the Huskies.

Midget Girls

Blasting Blueberries versus Yellowjackets – Taylor Lafave, Julia Wiberg, Lauren Wilcox and Julia Scarangela led the Blueberries as Emily Benson, Kayla DiSibio, Victoria Kroha and Meghan Powers played well for the ‘Jackets.

Hyper Hippos versus Orange Tigers – Shelby Tolla, Maren Brady, Kate Fallon and Michaela Nowacki played well for the Hippos as Hannah Bartlett, Shaina Errico, Jillian Gibney and Carley Cohane played well for the Tigers.

Red Tigers versus Shooting Stars – Rachel Ruzzi, Kelsey Muniz, Caitlin Linden and Laura Sullivan played well for the Tigers while Sarah Lynch, Samantha Lillis, Hannah Hripak and Maddie Bridges powered the Stars.

Midget Boys

Gray Eagles versus Sharks – Sawyer Conrad, Colin Patrick, Kaj Djonne and Dillon Palumbo played well for the Eagles while Robbie McCabe, Shawn McCarthy, James Accousti and Liam Decker powered the Sharks.

Knights versus Dragons – Jaret DeVellis, Nick Rubino and Connor LeMay had strong floor games for the Knights while Nick Roche, Nicholas Cirone, Liam McInerney and Hunter Booker had solid performances for the Dragons.

Blue Jays versus Tigers – Conor Roche, Austin LeBlanc, Matt Elias and Brennan O’Sullivan played well for the Jays as the Tigers received solid performances from Michael Cirone, Colin Morrissey, Zach Laros and Rory Phillips.

Lightning Bolts versus Wild Armadillos – Matthew Gerics, Andrew DeWolfe and Devin Luzietti powers the Bolts while Albert Dean, Patrick Berger, Alex Gerbo and Timmy Moore played well for the Armadillos.

Purple Tigers versus Razors – Geoff Santore, Andrew Svanda, Billy Cosgrove and Peter Winans played well for the Tigers as the razors got strong floor games from Robert Katrinak, Jesse Cabral, Danny McCarthy and Holden Turk.

Destroyers versus Hawks – Keaton McCleary, Trevor Palmer, Devin Peterson and Ethan Burg had solid performances for the Destroyers while Ethan Carpenter and David Mathews powered the Hawks.

Blue Dragons versus Heat – Daryl Silverlieb, Gordon Taylor, Zach Taylor and Nathan Wutzke played well for the Dragons while Nick Lotrecchiano, Colin Reilly, Brian Kiley and Nathan Augenbraun played well for the Heat.

Red Devils versus Bulldogs – Tom Rahr, Scott Alexander and Kunal Marwah had solid efforts for the Devils as Josh Houle, Wylie Zahansky, Daniel Colucci and Baxter Hankin anchored the ‘Dogs.
