Mattatuck Museum Seeking Docents
Mattatuck Museum Seeking Docents
WATERBURY â The Mattatuck Museum History and Arts Center will offer training on Monday, January 13, at 4 pm, for people who want to become museum docents. Volunteer docents will receive free training in three one-hour sessions that will enable them to lead school tours for fifth graders on the history of Waterbury.
The position is ideal for people who enjoy working with children, as well as those who have their own stories to tell about Waterbury. Daytime availability Tuesday through Friday during the school year and a one-year commitment are required for the program.
Docents receive discounted museum memberships, enjoy educational field trips, and meet other volunteers who are interested in art and history.
The Mattatuck Museum History and Arts Center houses the industrial and social history of the greater Waterbury area, in addition to a permanent collection of work by Connecticut artists. It also offers changing exhibitions.
