Had A Keen Sense Of Humor, A Devilish Grin
Alexander John Danka, Sr, 82, husband of Harriett (Macklin) Danka of Newtown, died January 5 at Danbury Hospital.
He was born in Bridgeport on June 22, 1923, to Boldizar and Anna Danka.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Alexander J. Danka, Jr, of Sandy Hook; five grandchildren, Melissa and Danielle Danka of Sandy Hook, Alexander Danka III and his wife, Trisha, of Seymour, Kimberly Danka of Southbury, and Jason Danka of Danbury. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Michael, Stephanie, and Melanie Danka of Seymour, Kayla Gill of Southbury, and Alyssa Danka of Southbury.
Mr Danka served in the US Army during World War II. Following his war service he was employed at Dictaphone Corp as a group leader for 45 years before retiring. He was a longtime resident of Bridgeport until moving to Newtown with his wife in 2002.
Mr Danka had a unique sense of humor and had a great bond with his grandchildren. He was a fond collector of various artifacts. Growing up he was an avid fisherman and felt most at home by the shore of Long Island Sound.
Funeral services were held January 9 at Honan Funeral Home, Newtown. Burial will be private.
