Three Shows By The Jones Factor

FAIRFIELD — John Fumasoli will bring his ten-piece “little/big band,” The Jones Factor, to Fairfield University’s Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts for three shows on Thursday, February 3. Performances will be at 7, 8:15 and 9:30 pm.

Mr Fumasoli, a trombonist, band leader and teacher, formed The Jones Factor in 1986. The dynamic, musically diverse musicians, active in the New York City show and recording scene, are equally at home playing straight-ahead jazz as well as contemporary jazz.

The Jones Factor has performed with such artists as Tony Bennett, Mel Lewis, Woody Herman, Gerry Mulligan, Louis Bellson, Frank Sinatra, Diana Ross, Barbra Streisand, Bob Mintzer, The Temptations, Blood Sweat and Tears, Michel Camillo, Sammy Davis, Jr and Wayne Newton.

The Jones Factor is currently at work on its second album. Its first CD, Collective Jazz, was released in the summer of 1988. The group’s repertoire ranges from arrangements of jazz standards to original compositions commissioned for the band.
