Mid-Winter Devil’s Den Hike

WESTON — To celebrate midwinter, The Nature Conservancy will offer a hike of about three miles to the Ambler Vista and Gorge at Devil’s Den Preserve on Sunday, January 30, from 1 to 3 pm. The moderately strenuous hike will parallel the Saugatuck River and climb some of the more narrow and rugged trails on Ambler Trail to view its scenic stream, waterfall, and rocky cliffs.

Comprised of 1,746 acres, Devil’s Den is the largest contiguous nature preserve in southwestern Connecticut. The best way to become familiar with some of the more distant of the preserve’s 21 miles of hiking trails is to take a guided hike.

The natural history guides for this walk, Gary Lupienski, Cia Marion, and Greg Wallace, will share a wealth of information from historical facts to winter tree identification. Call The Den Office at 203/226-4991 for reservations, directions or additional information. Entrance to The Den and its parking lot is at 33 Pent Road.
