Emerging Filmmakers At Aldrich Museum

RIDGEFIELD — Now entering its ninth popular season, the New Filmmakers Series at the Aldrich Museum celebrates highly innovative films by graduate student filmmakers from New York’s leading universities. Talented graduate students from the Tisch School of the Arts, the School of Visual Arts, and Columbia University of the Arts will screen and discuss their thesis films over a course of three dates this year.

On each of the screening dates, three provocative films will be shown. Participants can watch fresh, original works followed by relaxed conversations with the students and their film professors. The programs reveal the tricks of the trade, including the cost of production, the reality of working with actors, or anything else about the process of filmmaking that comes up during the discussions.

Films by students from the School of Visual Arts will be presented on Sunday, January 30, from 3 to 5 pm. Cost is $12 per person, and includes the screenings, discussions and light refreshments. Future programs this year will include works by students of Tisch School of Arts (February 27) and Columbia University’s School of the Arts (March 26).

The Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art is at 258 Main Street (Route 35) in Ridgefield. For reservations or additional information, call 203/438-4519.
