To the Editor:

Anyone who isn't brain dead should be aware of the fact that humanity is destroying our planet! We all have a responsibility to do whatever we can to eliminate anything that is harmful to the environment.

One of the worst offenders is single use plastic bags. I was thrilled when they were banned by Newtown and the State a few years ago, and I shudder to think that people want to lift this restriction. We should also demand that supermarkets and food stores use only bio-degradable bags in their produce departments and we should all use re-usable bags whenever possible!
