Youth Leadership Conference
Youth Leadership Conference
DUDLEY, MASS. â Nichols College and the Student Leadership Training Program (SLTP) are co-sponsoring a youth leadership conference for ninth graders called Students Taking Active Responsibility (START) June 3 and 4. A $25 registration fee is all that is required.
Interested students and parents must contact their high school principal or guidance counselor for registration information before the January 27 deadline. For more information, contact SLTP at 800-600-7223.
The START conference will be a two-day residential experience held on Nichols campus. With registration, students will receive all meals, lodging and materials, including a leadership handbook. Exercises in identity building, team building, situational leadership, ethics, and goal setting are designed to help participants meet the challenges of tomorrow.
The conference goal is to develop a strong foundation for a new generation of young leaders by pairing the strengths of Nichols College, at the forefront of business leadership, with SLTP, a Marshfield, Mass.-based organization with proven experience motivating thousands of high school students in the last 18 years.
âOne in ten of our alumni are presidents, CEOs, or business owners,â says Nichols President Debra M. Townsley. âBy exposing high school students to business leaders and entrepreneurs from a variety of fields, we hope they will focus their energies on what is to come and plan for their own vocational futures.â
âOver the years, our approach combining the two basic elements of unconditional acceptance and mutual respect has never varied,â says SLTP founder Dr Jim Fitzgerald. âSLTP is about real values, creating positive role models and enabling young people to become proactive, productive members and contributors to society.â
