Mr Licht joined MSNBC in April 2005 as senior producer on Scarborough Country. He has been serving as acting executive producer since August. Under Mr Lichtâs leadership, Scarborough Country ratings are up 28 percent in the fourth quarter in total viewers over a year ago.
Just prior to joining MSNBC, Mr Licht was an executive producer at KNTV/NBC O&O (an NBC affiliate) in San Francisco. He was part of the original transition team during the NBC acquisition of KNTV and helped produce coverage of the historic gubernatorial recall election in 2003
He also helped transition the station to a state-of-the-art digital facility. Â In 2004, Mr Licht helped lead the onsite NBC O&O coverage of the Athens Olympics.
Mr Licht started his news career at KNBC in Los Angeles, where he worked on the stationâs primetime news program OJ Simpson: The Trial, and produced the top-rated 11 pm newscast. He also produced on-site coverage of special events including the Oscars and the Olympics for the station, and was acting executive producer on the morning of September 11, 2001.
Mr Licht graduated from Syracuse University in 1993, and a 1989 graduate of St Margaretâs-McTernan (now Chase School) in Waterbury. He and his wife Jenny live in New York. His parents are Peter and Susan Licht of Newtown.
