Kevin LeBlanc, Connor Quinn and David Gerics had the hot hands as the Newtown Marauders sixth-grade travel basketball team won three out of four games in the recent Danbury Christmas Tournament.

The Marauders won a pair of regular season games this past weekend, as well, improving to 9-7.

Here are all the results –

TRAVEL

Boys 6th

Marauders 33, Danbury PAL 32 – Kevin LeBlanc scored with eight seconds left to hand the Marauders their first lead of the game … and, ultimately, the win. LeBlanc finished with six points while Connor Quinn led Newtown with 11. Pieter Martino, Nick Gerbo and Stephen Conway chipped in four points apiece.

Marauders 55, Wilton 48 – Connor Quinn and Kevin LeBlanc scored 14 points apiece while Danny Hebert added 11 as the Marauders jumped out to a big lead and coasted to the win. Pieter Martino and David Gerics scored six points each as the locals improved to 9-7.

Danbury Christmas Tournament –

Marauders 55, Bethel 39 – David Gerics canned 14 points while Connor Quinn and Nick Gerbo combined for 14 more to lead the Marauders to the win. Matt Shannon chipped in four points.

Marauders 48, Danbury PAL 39 – Connor Quinn poured in 20 points and Kevin LeBlanc popped in 10 to lead the Marauders past Danbury. Christian Barrett added four points.

Ridgefield over Marauders – Kevin LeBlanc scored 10 points while Gavin Scallon and Pieter Martino added five apiece but the Marauders were unable to overcome a tough, tall Ridgefield team.

Marauders 55, Bethel 23 – Kevin LeBlanc canned 14 points and Danny Hebert added 11 more to lead the Marauders to the win. Stephen Conway chipped in five points.

Boys 5th

Newtown 45, Fairfield 18 – Mike Davis scored 13 points and Matt Mossbarger added 10 to lift Newtown to the win. Matt Hoyt added six as Drew Tarantino played well defensively. Virgil Procaccini and Connor Gallagher played well on both ends of the floor.

Newtown 47, New Canaan 28 – Matt Mossbarger scored 14 points and played an outstanding overall game to lead Newtown past New Canaan. Jonah Muniz and Jim Parker combined for 10 points and played strong on both ends of the floor. Grant Ricketts played an outstanding defensive game as Bubba LeBlanc and Chase Wurtz put together fine floor games.

Danbury Christmas Tournament –

Newtown 32, Brookfield 14 – Virgil Procaccini, Mike Davis and Jim Parker combined for 20 points and played well on both ends of the floor to lead Newtown to the win. Jonah Muniz rebounded well and Chase Wurtz had a nice effort at the point.

Newtown 32, New Fairfield 18 – Drew Tarantino and Matt Mossbarger combined for 15 points and played outstanding overall games as Newtown dropped New Fairfield. Matt Hoyt and Grant Ricketts played well on both ends of the floor as Connor Gallagher and Bubba Leblanc made some key baskets and steals down the stretch.

Danbury 23, Newtown 21 – Drew Tarantino and Jim Parker combined for 10 points, but Danbury managed to hold off Newtown. Chase Wurtz and Connor Gallagher played well at the point and Jonah Muniz played a strong game on defense.

Danbury 23, Newtown 22 – In the tournament finals, Bubba LeBlanc and Virgil Procaccini played strong overall games and combined for 10 points to lead Newtown. Grant Ricketts played very well with several steals as Mike Davis played strong off the boards and Matt Hoyt hit a key basket.

IN-HOUSE

Junior Boys

Wildcats 36, Hurricanes 15 – Mike LoBosco scored 12 points and Tommy Stewart chipped in four as the ‘Cats pounded the ‘Canes. Derek Krewson and Eric McCabe combined for 35 rebounds. For the ‘Canes, Chris Tenney canned five points.

Hawks 50, Thrashers 25 – Austin Jones scored 15 points and Patrick Sullivan dished off five assists as the Hawks soared to the win. Kevin Dill grabbed six boards as Dylan Berger chipped in eight points. For the Thrashers, Alex Saviano scored 11 points, Josh Volpe had 11 rebounds, Robbie Daigle made eight steals and Tyler Trumble dished off four assists.

Regulators 34, Eagles 23 – Ryan Dunnigan and Rick Sandler combined for 12 points to lead the Regulators to the win. Peter Ovendorf played well on defense. For the Eagles, Eric Samuelson canned 11 points and Will Northrup added six points and seven rebounds. Dan Sclafani scored four points and grabbed six boards.

Thunder 49, Huskies 37 – Doug Brodbeck scored 18 points and Sean Ross canned 15 more (including a three-pointer) to lead the Thunder. Ross also grabbed eight rebounds as Owen Swain was also strong off the glass. For the Huskies, Mike Lord and Theo Hartlett combined for 13 points while Chris Haylon dished off four assists, Tom Capozziello made six steals and Mac Morlock grabbed six rebounds.

Hornets 39, Hawkeyes 28 – Jake Enriquez canned 12 points and Nick Hamilton added eight more to lead the Hornets to the win. Kory Kling dished off four assists, Sean Decker made four steals and Griffen Paynter grabbed six rebounds. For the ‘Eyes, John Corsi (4 assists), Mike Tenney (5 steals) and Mason West (6 rebounds) played well.

Vipers 42, Rockets 15 – Max Nacewicz popped in 13 points and dominated on both ends of the floor to lead the Vipers. Nick DiNelli and Kyle Harrington played well. For the Rockets, Ryan Crowell grabbed five rebounds and Mario Pizighelli had a strong floor game.

Gotham Gators 34, Vipers 28 – Cody Williams poured in 12 points and Jack Kneisel made six steals to lead the Gators. Louis Raab and Kyle McCarthy played well on defense. For the Vipers, Max Nacewicz canned 11 points while Greg Frattaroli led the D.

Da Bears 41, Hurricanes 16 – Christina Naldini and Kelly Gaston scored eight points apiece to lead Da Bears to the win. Kelly O’Connor dished off nine assists and Meridith Bridges added five steals. For the ‘Canes, Casey Rutter canned four points.

Huskies 43, Rebels 23 – Emma Kingsley scored 10 points to lead the Huskies to the win. Katie Fossum and Suzy Wright had strong floor games. For the Rebels, Courtney Amaral canned eight points and Ashley Cirone added four. Megan Gibbons and Kaitlyn Vos Winkel played well.

Celtics 34, Knicks 14 – Cady Jackman scored 12 points and Maggie Korth added 10 more as the Celtics slipped past the Knicks. For the Knicks, Jessica Haitz and Keri Chernoff combined for 10 points with Haitz also dishing off four assists.

Intermediate Girls

Knicks 16, Mercury 10 – Ellen Gordon and Jessica Gibbons scored eight points apiece to lift the Knicks to the win. Courtney Tenney had 10 rebounds and Maria Tassinari made six steals. For the Mercury, Faadia Ansari scored six points, Alex Powell made four steals, Melissa Buccino dragged down 11 rebounds and Ali DeWolfe played well on D.

Mercury 22, Huskies 21 – Ashley Maturo’s bucket with four seconds left lifted the Mercury past the Huskies. Faadia Ansari scored six points and Jane Sclafani dragged down five rebounds in the win.  For the Huskies, Megan Foy had four steals as Kirsten Lynch grabbed seven rebounds and Stephanie Zamary pulled down four more.

Jaguars 24, Liberty 14 – Taylor Brady scored 10 points and Olivia Phenix added eight to lead the Jags. Kristen DeGirolamo and Emily Peters played well. For the Liberty, Cassie Ekstrom scored eight points as Natalie Galante and Sarah Stofko had strong floor games.

Hawks 26, Gaels 18 – Kelly O’Sullivan and Caitlin Yakush canned 10 points apiece to lift the Hawks to the win. Anna Northrup and Sarah Hasselburger played well. For the Gaels, Lauren Sarna scored eight points as Olivia Korth and Amanda Crowell had strong games.

Hurricanes 22, Vols 22 – Kristiana Engler scored 12 points to lead the Hurricanes. Sara Principi, Shannon DiLorio and Lauren Meyer played well. For the Vols, Lindsay Jossick popped in eight points as Mary Beth Smosky (4 steals), Siena Ciccirelli (6 rebounds) and Ashley Meisenheimer played well.

5th Grade

Knicks 40, Cavaliers 26 – Tom Gleason poured in 20 points to lead the Knicks to the win. Otto Kerler, Isaac Farrington and Daniel Winn played well. For the Cavs, Matt Lindell scored 13 points while Sam Boland, Matt Barra and Greg LaRussa played well.

Mavericks 34, Nighthawks 30 – Rob Linden scored 12 points while Doug Miller and Sean Reilly played well to lead the Mavericks to the win. For the ‘Hawks, Tim Kelly scored 13 points as Tom Catalina and Spencer Brindley played well.

Huskies 32, Celtics 31 – Matt Wood popped in 10 points as the Huskies clipped the Celtics. Chris Carroll, Matt Janco and Daniel Spillane played well. For the Celtics, Nick Caganello scored 16 points as Ryan Rosenberger and Mitchell Stewart had solid floor games.

Notre Dame 22, Runnin’ Rebels 18 – Angel Santos scored 10 points to lead the Irish to the win. Matt White, Shay Demarche and Logan Puleri all played well. For the Rebels, Brendan Peterson popped in five points as Austin Rafferty, Alex Romeo and Dom Scarangella played well.

Intermediate Boys

6th Grade

Grizzlies 57, Nighthawks 42 – Alex Roche poured in 23 points and Christian Mather dished off 10 assists to lead the Grizzlies to the win. Dave Cartisano and Nick Madden played well. For the ‘Hawks, Dan Poeltl scored 10 points and Brennan Merrick and Mike Scharfenberg played well.

Raptors 29, Huskies 19 – Charlie Helgren scored six points to lead the Raptors to the win. Justin DeVellis, Dean Lindquist and Myles LoBuglio played well. For the Huskies, Brandon Marks scored six points and Devin DiNicola, Max Lopez and Mike MacDonald had strong floor games.

Regulators 39, Knicks 35 – Brandon Cooper tallied 23 points as the Regulators slipped past the Knicks. Nick Sajovic, Wyatt Depuy and Justin Cherry played well. For the Knicks, Patrick Thornberg scored 10 points as Joe Davis, Greg Horne and Tom Bauer had nice performances.

Gunners 39, Tar Heels 35 – Michael Daubert scored 11 points and Jake Feinstein had a strong floor games to lead the Gunners to the win. For the Heels, Jeff Hoffman popped in eight points as Chase Hutchison and Jack Champagne played well.

Blue Devils 54, Tar Heels 36 – Sean Elliott canned 21 points while Chris Devaney and Reid Schmidt had strong floor games to lead the Devils to the win. For the Heels, Jack Champagne popped in 14 points as Evan Swain and Pat Mullins played well.

Bantam Boys

Nighthawks 19, Thunder 18 – Will Swain canned eight points and Jason Ferrari grabbed five rebounds to lead the ‘Hawks to the win. Jaret DeVellis (4 assists) and Austin Huffman (2 steals) played well. For the Thunder, Sawyer Conrad scored 10 points and Erik Sweet grabbed six boards. Ryan King and Jeff DePinto played well.

Knicks 38, Wildcats 15 – Jacob Burden scored 12 points and Troy Frangione added 11 more to lead the Knicks to the win. Stephen Grasso dished off six assists, Zach Wieland made four steals and Devon Palilla grabbed six rebounds. For the ‘Cats, Patrick Berger popped in five points as Deegan Beuchemin made four steals and Albert Dean grabbed six rebounds. Forest Speed and Danny Romeo played well.

Raptors 35, Warriors 12 – Julian Dunn scored 16 points while Eric Cascone made four steals and blocked four shots to lead the Raptors. Adam Israel dished off five assists and CJ Dunn pulled down eight rebounds. For the Warriors, Nick Roche popped in six points as Kevin Ovendorf, Tommy Shaker and Zach Auemueller played well.

Rockets 21, Heat 19 – Connor Roche scored 12 points and Michael Cifone added six more to lead the Rockets to the win. For the Heat, Colton Smith popped in 10 points as Jon Responda, David Matthews and Robb McCabe had solid floor games.

Killer Bees 16, Huskies 15 – Michael Parker scored nine points to lead the Bees to the narrow win. Wiley Zahansky dished off three assists and Nate Dowd had four steals with two points. For the Huskies, Nick Cirone scored four points and Carl Whippie grabbed six rebounds. Daniel Colucci and Peter Manfredonia scored four points apiece.

Midget Boys

Vipers versus Chargers – Evan Eggleston, Andrew Svanda, Brian Kiley and Hunter Booker led the Vipers as Matt Davis, Timmy LeBlanc, Charlie Fletcher and Tommy Elliott powered the Chargers.

Timberwolves versus Exterminators – Graham Dowd, Cole Rogalin, Colin Patrick and Dillon Palumbo played well for the ‘Wolves as Matt Campbell, John DelRossi, Matt Gerics and Joey Duero led the Exterminators.

Sharks versus Blizzard – Tommy Kitzmiller, Holden Turk, Quinlan Hart, John Pierce and Greg Trimarchi led the Sharks while Alex Gerbo, Jake Lapp, Connor Barrett, Matthew Guinee and Sean Dalton powered the Blizzard.

Purple Bandits versus Green Pythons – Austin Engler, Greg Harrison, Austin LeBlanc and David Berquist played well for the Bandits as Nate Wutzke, Sam Czel, Jack Riley, Clint Stergue and Rob Hutchins had solid performances for the Pythons.

Green Goblins versus Blue Jays – Kyle Haas, Kyle Keeping, Scotty Bauer, Kevin Chernoff and Dylan Cortese led the Goblins while Nick Genovese, Nick Lansing, Matthew Ingwersen and Ethan Carpenter led the Jays.

Yellow Lightning versus Flames – Jared Peason, Jack Palermo, Ethan Burg and Jordan Chipman had nice performances for the Lightning as the Flames were led by Ryan McInerney, Steve Moccio, Gordon Walsh, James Carney and Nicholas Bourgeois.

Huskies versus Nighthawks – Matt Bucci, Alex Dunleavy, Robert Katrinak, Brandon Johnson and Tyler Dullinger powered the Huskies while Kieran Lynch, Justin Hall, Cam Mitchell and Dylan Bartlett played well for the ‘Hawks.

Knicks versus Orange Crush – Jack Moulder, Henry Primavera, Bobby Haskins and Patrick Briscoe led the Knicks against the Crush. For the Crush, Kevin Finnegan, William Gottschalck, Bryce Mather and Jeremy Salaris played well.
