Family Night Planned At The Peabody Museum
Family Night Planned At The Peabody Museum
NEW HAVEN â For anyone who has ever wanted to spend a (partial) night at a museum, The Yale Peabody Museum of Natural History has an answer: On Saturday, January 20, from 6 to 9 pm, the museum will present âA Night at the Peabody.â
Visitors can see the museum come alive with games, crafts, live animals, a host of night watchmen, and special surprises. There will be scavenger hunts for various ages, and some activities will generate prizes.
A mummy, giraffe, giant insect, stiltwalker, and Neanderthal are among the exotic creatures museum visitors can expect to see roaming the halls that evening. The 18th Century dinosaur hunter O.C. Marsh and the sister of Peabody founder George Peabody will be spirited into attendance.
An inflatable caterpillar will provide some romping fun for the smaller kids. Finally, guards with flashlights can alert guests to some fascinating exhibit details not likely to have been noticed before.
This is a family oriented event with activities geared especially toward children ages 5-12.
Admission is $10 per person, although children ages 3 and under will be admitted free of charge.
To purchase tickets in advance, visit the Peabody website at Peabody.Yale.edu. Tickets may also be purchased at the Peabody admissions desk in advance or the night of the event.
The museum is at 170 Whitney Avenue. For more information, call the events office at 203-432-6646 or the Peabody infotape at 203-432-5050.
