Color In January: SCAN Art Show & Sale January 20- 28

One of winter’s bright events is SCAN’s “Color in January Art Show and Sale” at Lexington Gardens, 32 Church Hill Road in Newtown, which will return this month January 20-28.

The annual show presents original art by the membership of The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown. SCAN is a non-profit organization that promotes fine art in the Western Connecticut region by sponsoring workshops, exhibits and twice-monthly demonstrations by professional artists.

The public is invited to meet the artists and view more than 200 original framed oils, pastels, watercolors, acrylics, mixed media and graphic works offered for sale during the opening reception on Saturday, January 20, from 2 to 4 p.m.

Free demonstrations by fine artists will be held 12:30 at Lexington Gardens on all four weekend days: January 20, Dick McEvoy will open the demonstration series with a pastel landscape program; January 21, Anda Styler, acrylic landscape; January 27, Rick Daskam, oil landscape; and January 28, Adele Moros, watercolor floral.

For information, contact show chair Marianne Scanlon at 426-5283 or visit the SCAN website at SCANart.org.
