Although there were just four double winners, there were lots of good swims as the Newtown Torpedoes age group swim team returned to the pool last weekend following the holiday break and laid a convincing 333-233 win on Naugatuck.

Although there were just four double winners, there were lots of good swims as the Newtown Torpedoes age group swim team returned to the pool last weekend following the holiday break and laid a convincing 333-233 win on Naugatuck.

Elliott (boys 8 and under), Krysta Gates (girls 9 and 10), Ryan Tita (boys 13 and over) and Michael Hubbard (boys 13 and over) were all double winners to lead the Torpedoes. The girls’ side did the most damage, posting a 192-111 advantage while the boys’ side posted a 141-122 advantage.

The Torpedoes will be in the water this weekend at Plainville and on January 20 will host Watertown at the Newtown High School pool.
