Although the annual Giorno Memorial 3-On-3 Basketball Tournament was shifted from November to January, the change did little to stem the tide of charity from local basketball fans who turned out in droves last Sunday.

The tournament is in memory of John Giorno, who succumbed to cancer, and benefits the scholarship fund for the Giorno children. With the many players hitting the court all day, the refreshments for sale all day, and the silent auction and raffle prizes up for grabs it was another successful year for the tournament.

Silent auction winners are asked to send their checks, payable to the Giorno Children’s College Fund (or GCCF), to P.O. Box 805, Newtown, 06470. Items can be picked up at the Newtown Parks and Recreation Department offices.
