Even though the morning brought some persistent flurries of snow outside, members of the Newtown Senior Center and Children’s Adventure Center were in bright spirits making sun artwork on January 10.

The activity was part of the Newtown Senior Center’s monthly Intergenerational Fun themed craft class that takes place at the Center, 14 Riverside Road, on the second Thursday of the month.

At the beginning of the class, Assistant Director Judy Thomas showed the children, ages 3 to 5, how they could use a cupcake liner, two googly eyes, some pompoms, and pipe cleaners to make a yellow and orange sun.

Volunteers from the Newtown Senior Center and Children’s Adventure Center helped the children glue down the pieces to create their masterpieces.

Intergenerational Fun also takes place every third Thursday of the month for a themed activity and every fourth Thursday of the month for a volunteer to read to the children.

Those interested in volunteering can call the Newtown Senior Center at 203-270-4310.
