Police List December Traffic Enforcement Stats
The police department has submitted to the Police Commission the December activity report for its traffic enforcement unit.
The traffic squad is operating on a provisional basis, with a formal traffic unit expected to established later this year, depending upon police staffing levels.
From December 1 to December 27, the traffic unit worked five and one-half work shifts. Each of the two officers worked different shifts and were not paired up for duty. The number of shifts was limited due to limited staffing levels and the need to maintain regular patrols.
Officers Steve Ketchum and David Kullgren participated in the traffic enforcement.
The enforcement focused on radar-based speed checks, crosswalk compliance, seatbelt compliance, equipment violations, fire lane violations, and parking violations, plus other matters.
Enforcement covered Main Street, Elm Drive, Glover Avenue, Hanover Road, Wasserman Way, Taunton Hill Road, Queen Street, Currituck Road, Toddy Hill Road, and Church Hill Road. Besides speeding violations, police monitored traffic signal compliance and stop sign compliance.
During their traffic enforcement, the two officer stopped 56 motorists for investigations.
