Commerce Road

After receiving a report of a motor vehicle accident on Commerce Road on the night of January 9, police went there to investigate.

Police said that motorist Kirk Andersen, 24, of 55 Capitol Drive was driving a 1992 Dodge Dynasty southward on Commerce Road, and as he was negotiating a curve in the road, he lost control of the auto, after which it struck a stormwater catch basin, some wooden posts, and a tree, coming to rest off the right side of the road.

Police said that Andersen complained of injuries, after which an ambulance crew went to the scene, but Andersen then refused treatment.

Police said their investigation showed that Andersen had driven the Dodge recklessly in getting into the accident. Andersen interfered with and struggled with police during their accident investigation, police said.

Police then charged him with reckless driving, making a restricted turn, and interfering with police.

Andersen was released from police custody on a written promise to appear in court on January 23.
