National Gallery Lecture January 27, Modeling, carving..

WASHINGTON, D.C. — On Sunday, January 27, Nicholas Penny; Karen Serres, Robert H. Smith research curator; Dylan Smith, Robert H. Smith research conservator; and Shelley Sturman, senior conservator and head of object conservation will present a lecture, “Modeling, Carving, Casting, Finishing: Four Aspects of the Works in Bronze, Boxwood and Ivory Exhibited in the Robert H. Smith Collection.”

The program will begin at 2 pm in the East Building Auditorium at the National Academy of Art, on the National Mall between 3rd and 9th Streets at Constitution Avenue NW.

The exhibit “Bronze and Boxwood: Masterpieces from the Robert H. Smith Collection” opens January 27 and will be on view through May 4. The lecture is free and open to the public. For information, www.nga.gov, 202-737-4215 or TDD, 202-842-6176.
