Childrenâs Programs
*Register for Story times: Story hour registration begins January 18 and ends on January 28. Classes are offered for children 12-24 months on Thursday and Saturday at 10 am.
There are six meeting times for 2-3 year olds: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 10 am, and Monday, Thursday and Saturday at 11 am.
Classes for 4 and 5 year olds meet on Tuesday at 11 or Wednesday at 1 pm.
Registration forms are available at the childrenâs desk. No phone registrations will be accepted. The child must be a resident of Newtown to be eligible for this free program. Classes begin the week of February 4 and end the week of March 10.
Young Adult
*Make Creative Chocolates for Valentineâs Day with Marie Walker.
The annual chocolate fest for young adults in grade 6 and up is scheduled for Tuesday, February 5, from 3 to 5 pm (snow date is February 12).
The workshop is limited to 12 Newtown students or residents. A supply fee of $6 will need to be paid at the program.

Teen Health & Wellness: Real Life, Real Answers, can be accessed directly from our webpage both at home and in the library; visit biblio.org/YAWebSpot and look for the link for Teen health & Wellness â New! under the photo in the center of the page.
This comprehensive database is set up for teens to research health-related issues important to their well-being. Itâs a user-friendly research and report tool as well as a self-help resource. The content is updated regularly and checked for accuracy. Young adults and those who care about them will find that this resource is something they can refer to often.
Programs For Adults
*Book Discussions: Upcoming discussions will cover Tortilla Flat by John Steinbeck on Monday, January 14, at 1 pm; and The Heart is a Lonely Hunter by Carson McCullers on Thursday, January 17, at 7:30 pm.
*Putting Your Past on Paper: Thereâs an African proverb which says, âWhen an old man dies, a library burns down.â
Donât let your familyâs library burn down. Join us at the library for a memoir writing workshop with Linda Chiara on January 15, from 3 to 4:30 pm.
The program is free but we do request that you call the library at 426-4533 to let us know you plan on attending.
*Searching for Shakespeare: The âSearching for Shakespeareâ series will return to its regular offerings (lecture, discussion and film screening) in January with a focus on The Merchant of Venice.
A screening of the 2004 film The Merchant of Venice, starring Al Pacino and Jeremy Irons, will be offered on Tuesday, January 15, at 7 pm.
*Get Organized! Come to a free panel discussion with professional organizers Cara Brook and Jill McKean on Tuesday, January 22, at 7 pm.
Attendees will learn some great time management tips plus find out how to pare down and simplify. The program is free and refreshments will be served.
*Independent Film Series: This series will resume on Wednesday, January 30, with a screening of Viva Cuba at 7 pm.

The Book Nook has books to help you keep your new yearâs resolutions.
The library recently expand its hours and is now open earlier every morning. The new hours are Monday through Thursday and Saturday, 9:30 am to 8 pm; Friday from 11 am to 5 pm; and Sunday from noon to 5 pm. The library, at 25 Main Street, can be reached at 426-4533 or visit CHBoothLibrary.org.
