Alice (Anderson) Chrusciel, 91, of Newtown, passed away peacefully into Eternal rest on January 10, 2022, at Danbury Hospital surrounded by the love and prayers of her devoted family. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Gerald Chrusciel, in 2014. They were blessed with over 60 years of happiness and had known each other since they were children growing up in the same neighborhood in Indian Orchard, Mass. They were lifelong dear friends and shared so many happy memories together.

Alice was the beloved daughter of Mary (Rooney) and William Anderson and the beloved granddaughter of Michael and Margaret Rooney.

She leaves her devoted children who loved her beyond measure: Kathleen Chrusciel-Desrosiers and her husband, Albert Desrosiers, of Newtown; Judy Chrusciel and her husband, James Bauer, of Cumberland, R.I.; and Alice Chrusciel-Allen and her husband, Fred Allen, of Woodbury, Conn. She leaves her precious grandchildren, whom she loved with all her heart: Sarah Desrosiers and her fiancé, Eric Zeitler; Andrew and Jack Bauer, and Kelly and Patrick Allen. She is survived by her dear brother, Joseph Anderson, and his wife, Gloria, of Agawam, Mass., and many cherished nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends.

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her precious granddaughter, Jenny Desrosiers, as well as her dear sisters: Ethel Gamache, Grace McGrath, Mary Tshonas, Helen Norton, and Catherine Anderson; and dear brothers, John and Bill Anderson.

She graduated from High School of Commerce in Springfield, Mass. In her professional life, she worked as an executive secretary at Hamilton Standard in Windsor Locks, Conn; Raytheon Technologies in Waltham, Mass.; and Corning Hospital in Corning, N.Y. Above all, Alice devoted herself to her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, a homemaker, avid reader, poetry enthusiast, gifted storyteller, tea drinker, and Frank Sinatra fan. And to her three daughters, she was the most loving, thoughtful, and amazing mom ever! Her love knew no bounds and when her six grandchildren arrived, she showered each of them with so much love and was so proud of their achievements. They filled her life with tremendous joy.

Always very proud to be of Irish heritage and from Massachusetts, she was a 45-year resident of Newtown and spent 41 of those years at the family home on Palestine Road and, more recently, resided at Walnut Tree Village in Sandy Hook. A parishioner of St Rose of Lima in Newtown and later St Mary Parish in Bethel, she was a devout Catholic and always had her rosary close at hand.

Alice will be missed immensely, cherished always, and loved forever. Our hearts are broken by her passing.

Calling hours will be on January 14, 9 to 10 am, at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown. A Mass of Christian burial will follow on January 14, at 10:30 am, at St Rose of Lima Church in Newtown. The Funeral Mass will be livestreamed at strosechurch.com/live-stream. Burial will be at Island Pond Cemetery, Center Street, Ludlow, Mass.

We ask that everyone wear face masks, follow social distancing guidelines, as well as refrain from embracing with family and others for everyone’s safety.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Shriners Children’s New England, 516 Carew Street, Springfield MA 01104.
