Tiger Den 2 Touring The Town

On Friday, January 7, Tiger Den 2 of Newtown Pack 470 went on a field trip to learn about the community. Their first stop was a tour of Edmond Town Hall with First Selectman Herbert Rosenthal. Mr Rosenthal talked about the history of the town and the contributions of Mary Hawley and other community leaders. Of great interest to the boys was the mural depicting historic landmarks and famous people in Newtown.

After the town hall tour the scouts went to the main office of the Newtown Savings Bank where bank president John Martocci and branch manager Nancy Adams gave the scouts a guided tour of the bank. The scouts learned that there is more to the bank than depositing and withdrawing money. They toured the vault and safety deposit area, the computer facility, and learned first hand what it was like to be a teller at the drive-through window.
